Who is joining forces?

Work for Social

We are Heroes

In 2017, Pro Bono Lab has trained 2 newcomer organisations in Spain and Belgium and would like to associate them to the partnership so that they can gain practical knowledge and enhance their action.

Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Everyone's got skills and talents to share, but not everyone knows who to share those skills with, and how. Furthermore, Europe is filled with outstanding non-profit organisations (NPOs) striving to solve pressing social issues, but lacking some core skills to build their capacity. We would like to connect 4 NPOs working to promote citizenship and democracy in 3 countries with groups of volunteers to support them with their communication, strategy, finance, human resources or legal skills.

Where will your idea take place?

The project would take place in Paris, France, in Madrid, Spain and in Brussels, Belgium.

Why does Europe need your idea?

We believe that pro bono can change the way people interact with each other and reinforce social cohesion through the sharing of skills. It can support NPOs working to solve the most pressing challenges that Europe is facing today, including poverty, illiteracy, rise in extremism or global warming.

What is your impact?

For volunteers: increased awareness of the social change they can bring and personal growth
For NPOs: capacity-building and increased social impact for their beneficiaries.
For our project partners: transfer of experience and reinforcement of their capacity as pro bono service providers.

How do you get there?

Selection of 4 NPOs in 3 countries (2 in France, 1 in Belgium, 1 in Spain) active in the field of citizenship and democracy
For each NPO, organisation and facilitation of 2 one-day pro bono projects (teams of 10 skilled volunteers for each)
Support of the project partners by Pro Bono Lab to implement their projects.
Impact assessment of the pro bono projects.

What is your story?

I believe that a society is in better shape when citizens' talents can be used to solve issues that regard everyone. Also, there are a lot of NPOs in Europe, but most of them lack resources to conduct a mission that is crucial to ensure social justice and a vibrant democracy. Hence pro bono!

Who are you doing it for?

1) Small to medium-sized NPOs involved in the citizenship/democracy field with specific skills needs
2) Volunteers: experienced professionals eager to share their skills for a social cause
3) Project partners: recently founded pro bono service providers in search of enriching experiences

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

We are curious to know if people have heard of similar initiatives in their own countries in Europe, and if there are innovative ways to gather people who don't know each other but have a lot to learn from each other.
