Violations of labour rights among truck drivers are part of their daily routine. We must put a stop to that! How? By informing them and raising awareness. We will routinely visit them where they park. And solve together their experiences of labor rights violations. So that they will feel empowered.

In the Charter of fundamental rights of the European Unions is these important words are written: Conscious of its spiritual and moral heritage, the Union is founded on the indivisible, universal values of human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity; it is based on the principles of democracy and the rule of law. It places the individual at the heart of its activities, by establishing the citizenship of the Union and by creating an area of freedom, security and justice. Given the fact, that we share common values of freedom, security, justice, equality and solidarity, the idea of our initiative, which lies on respecting all of these values, can be transferred to other countries, sectors or organization, of course taking into account organizational diversities.
The successful outcome of our initiative will be a truck driver, who is fully equipped with all the necessary information, he or she needs to use his labour rights. Will be a truck driver, who will not be afraid to confront this information to his abusive employer. Will be truck drivers, who will regularly both call their own collegaues or us, and transfer all of their positive and negative experiences in-between that social circle. Will be a truck driver, who won’t be facing an isolated position. By that, in one year time, a (in)formal network directly among the truck drivers will start to grow, meaning that they will organize themselves. So, in one year time our two road labour advocates will transfer themselves from first row to second row giving various advice
We will train two labour rights advocates with similar social and professional background as truck drivers - the level of empowerment lies in the level of trust. We will buy a vehicle to conduct outreach advocacy work. Inside the branded vehicle there will be information materials available, wi-fi connection and contacts needed to effectively give information to the truck drivers on the basis of their needs. Flexible schedules will be developed and made available with info on which parking lot advocates can be reached. To create awareness among drivers (and broader) a creative campaign will take place at the beginning (and throughout) of our initiative, consisting of press conference, facebook communication and coverage with a relevant media . The whole initiative will last 12 months.
