Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Are there political positions you just do not understand? You do not want to understand?
We invite three different opinions about one topic (any you can think of) to be shared in a chat-room. One mediator assists you in exchanging your opinions - the result is on you! The tool is flexibly applicable in any context where exchange and understanding of ideas are missing. Come to share knowledge, information and empathy! Democracy meens living with different ideas of how the world should be.

Why does Europe need your idea?

We do not want the current separation between left/right, countryside/city, young/old to guide our lifes and point of views! A simple chat, where people of different opinions exchange about there knowledge, beliefs and experiences can help to spread these boundaries.

What is your impact?

Those who did an odisseia chat will have gotten a little insight in the thoughts of another person with different positions; our mediators will be professionally trained to guide the conversations; odisseia chats will be asked for by different organisations/neighbours/infrastructural projects/etc.

How do you get there?

We will invite groups of three people from different backgrounds to exchange about one topic- if they agree, the chatroom will be published afterwards. We will cooperate with mediation classes (f.e. at law and psychology faculties) to train our mediators. We will present our open-source model to think tanks, political parties, civil society groups and implement it in moments of disputes and lack of exchange. We will work on the translation tool, so the chat can be implemented internationally.

What is your story?

A lack of exchange of information, experiences and point of views leads to political extrems. This happens also in private life, where real exchange about different ideas is rare. We have witnessed moments, where exchanges led to respect and sometimes understanding. We want to enable them for many.

Who are you doing it for?

Our tool can be used by any organisation, civil society actor, company, political party or private person - they can rely on an odisseia chat in the moment where mediation is needed, where interest about another point of view grows or where they lack information and experiences.

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

Do you want to try out an odisseia chat? With whom and about what topic?
