The Library Observatory for a Participatory Democracy and Multicultural Center is a stable and enduring space that functions as a social center for multicultural meeting with the aim to develop collective and democratic participatory practices of social and political intervention.
There is no human development without real democracy. There will be no cohesive Europe, with social justice and solidarity, without the solid deepening of participatory democracy.
where nationalism grows, where social and economic asymmetries are indecent, and where the formation of a dominant technocratic elite is increasingly separated from citizens, we need to create other institutions. Voting is far from being enough to deploy democracy. We foster that people formulate ideas together, deciding with equality of voice and vote, establishing relationships based on solidarity, freedom and decentralisation. Create and stimulate communities of equals, a space and a time of collective sharing, a process of putting in common, an active citizenship in Europe and its neighbouring regions.
The creation of intergenerational and intercultural groups working on different topics (readers community; the commons in the neighborhood/city; gender issues, artistic groups; student projects on participatory democracy or that foster a multicultural approach)
The ability of these groups to create their own dynamics and autonomy
The ability of these groups to become into lasting institutions with a positive weight in the community and neighborhood
The prospect, difficult to achieve but necessary, that these groups incubate similar projects in other neighborhoods, other cities, in the cities of other countries.
Sstrengthening the self-organization and participatory culture among citizens.
In that sense, Library Observatory... wants to be a glocal spot to the "changer"!
