Studentenforum im Tönissteiner Kreis e.V.
40 young people from all over Europe will come together for a conference in Berlin in August 2015 to discuss the challenges for international security posed by transnational organised crime and publish proposals for possible solutions.
The ISA 2015 promotes cooperation within the Politeïa network. The Politeïa Community is a network of student organisations worldwide with a special focus in Europe which share similar goals and structures. The ISA is the key event of the Politeïa Network, bringing together members of all partner organisations. The Politeïa members seek to contribute to a vivid international civil society via a constant international dialogue. The goal is to raise awareness for common global interests and values in the minds of future decision-makers and thereby to contribute to better governance. ISA 2015 participants will be inspired to share their ideas within the community and within their home countries, thus encouraging young people all over Europe to work towards a better European cooperation.
The sustainability of the project is guaranteed by the annual continuation of the ISA between students and young professionals from Germany, France, Poland and Mexico within the established framework of the Politeïa Network. The innovative character of the ISA is the multi-national perspective and dialogue on topics of global importance. ISA 2015 participants will be able to share the knowledge they have gained, thus continuing to raise awareness for the topic of transnational organised crime. A year from now, the ISA 2015 participants will have contributed a paper to the public debate to promote European cooperation. A beneficiary of our idea will have contributed to the process of building a more closely-connected Europe by enabling young people to share their ideals.
We are a team of eight members of the Studentenforum im Tönissteiner Kreis e.V. and have been working on realising the ISA 2015 since July 2014. So far, we have drawn up a detailed plan for each conference day and are currently inviting speakers. Every team member has a specific responsibility, from conceptual planning, communication within the Politeïa network to finance and fundraising. We have secured the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin as our conference location. Our next steps include securing funding and promoting the ISA 2015 within the Politeïa network. We benefit from the Studentenforum’s longstanding experience in organising events so that we will be able to realise our project in August 2015.

We are happy about any input on the topic of transnational organised crime and about useful tips for organising an event with participants from many different countries.
