Greek Evangelical Church of Athens
Thousands of refugees families in Athens, Greece, face the reality of having no choice but staying in the country in the long term. Our city now needs to provide meaningful services, focusing in the emotional wellbeing of the refugee and migrant families and the promotion of social cohesion in the receiving community. This is not a crisis response, but a consistent effort to help families build their new life in Greece, independently.

Greece has become a multicultural society where initiatives like ours can lead to the empowerment of people and circulation of ideas and forward thinking in Europe. We aim to connect with similar projects in Europe and look into ways of collaborating and sharing for the best outcome
About 12 families wishing to build a life in Greece will have been supported by our project in one year. They will have received education, psychosocial support and opportunities for multiple interactions with locals, volunteers and partners who share our vision and would like to work with us
We offer a holistic care plan for every family, design together with the family members. Classes of Greek, English, IT and Life Skills are included. We also emphasise the reinforcement of professional skills and the acquisition of new ones. The goal is to help individuals become socially included, get a job and make an independent living in Greece. Each family gets connected with a greek family which acts as a 'foster' family and supports our benefiaries in many levels.
I grew up in a city that received thousands of refugees and migrants over the past two decades. I personally believe that every person has individual needs that can and should be cared for. We care for people of every nation and background who flee danger and seek a safer and better life.
Refugee and migrant families who wish to stay in Greece and start an independent life in Athens. Nuclear or single parent families are equally welcome. We do not make discriminations based on nationality or religion.
