Xena centro scambi e dinamiche interculturali
The idea began as an endeavour in 2016 with 6 European organisations, incl. universities, civil society and NGOs of which we here present the key partners. More info at godeepproject.wordpress.com
Go Deeps’ objective is to engage citizens of diverse backgrounds in deeper dialogue when transforming community and cities; increasing mutual understanding and participation, through dynamic, fun approaches. True inclusion is not where a majority wins, but where a deeper democracy is applied, considering all voices and where the sum is greater than the parts. Currently we focus our effort on ‘playing’ Go Deep in 7 cities across Europe where refugees and host communities are coming together.
Edinburgh (Scotland), Madrid, Grottaglie (South of Italy), Athens, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Dortmund.
GD offers a proces going a layer deeper, creating conditions to welcome what’s really going on, incorporating all voices in citizen-driven solutions beyond conflictual politics or winner-loser thinking, co-creating solutions, making participation in construction of community realistic and fun.
Go Deep games applied in 7 cities across Europe in 2018 will result in a a EU-wide reference for a new community-based approach for participatory involvement and decision making, including people of diverse backgrounds and needs, especially around the topic of refugees/migrants and host communities.
Go Deep is an award winning, freely downloadable game, that brings together groups to work on community on themes such as racism which affect our daily interaction. Designed for cross-cultural democratic participation, going from stereotypes to real mutual understanding, using the power of play. Not only increasing participation and inclusiveness, it also invites communities to directly manifest their new understanding into practical concrete co-decided and co-designed projects in the 7 cities.
We created this game as a synthesis of 2 methodologies: The Oasis Game and Processwork. After a test-period we are seeing enormous impact on relevant topics around inclusion, privilege, isolation, empowerment. We have a process and tool that increases participation that we really want to spread.
We have the conditions to work with groups of refugees and migrants and the host-communities that they restart their lives in. Enabling people to really meet and create together, We aim to host the processes, but also train all participating groups to be able to replicate similar processes.
We're always curious to hear what people think of our ideas, aims, tool and process. So feel free to comment.
