BEST - Board of European Students of Technology
EBEC is an international engineering competition that targets young people. With the motto “Design the future. Today.”, we strive to put together some of the most talented European students to solve real life challenges proposed by leading companies and institutions in a multicultural environment.
This project values innovation, open-mindedness, tolerance and reiterates the importance of diversity to make it possible for students to experience the advantages of unconventional, transnational network which strengthen connection and cohesion.
Making these unique partnerships that cross geographical, linguistic and cultural boundaries EBEC stands out from the mass. It will render open, curious, enthusiastic and motivated young students interested in future-oriented work and in problem solving.
Also, BEST is cooperating with other organisations such as bonding-studenteninitiative e.V or ESTIEM spreading BEST values: friendship, flexibility, fun, improvement and learning through Europe. In future EBEC will connect individuals who want to make a change and pursue innovative work on Europe.
EBEC gives students the opportunity to use their theoretical knowledge gained during the University, by being challenged to solve interdisciplinary tasks. In this way we make sure that EBEC is a project that targets all technology students, regardless of their field of study, and is able to offer them a good quality content in order to help them develop themselves in an international environment. EBEC project is inserted in of one of BEST’s core activities: providing complementary education.
As an intercultural experience for European young people coming from different backgrounds, they will gain through this project a better understanding of other European cultures. As such, we envision to increase the international mindset of future professionals in Europe.
Local EBEC Rounds (LRs): events organised by Local BEST Groups from 88 technical universities among 32 European countries, involving more than 6500 students.
National & Regional EBEC Rounds (NRRs): organised in 15 countries, gathering around 700 winners of all LRs.
Final round: EBEC Final will gather 120 competitors in August 2015. Out of 10 days, 4 are working days, the other ones are dedicated to the industry, cultural visits and social activities.
On the competition rounds, teams of 4 students receive Team Design or Case Study tasks. These tasks challenge them to use their engineering abilities and soft skills.
In all rounds, after each task, participants hold a public presentation in front of a jury, composed by professors and company representatives, in order to evaluate the solutions
