ECOS - Cooperativa de Educação, Cooperação e Desenvolvimento
A translocal journey to collective inquire on current problems and challenges and to collaborate co-constructing new local and European narratives by experimenting with practical initiatives that can lead us to the better world our hearts know it's possible.
Faro, Portugal, The Hague, Nederlands, Vienna, Austria
Europe is at a crossroad with huge disruptions in our relation with nature, with each other and with our spiritual selfs. The narratives of exponential growth and economic development based on consumerism are failing to deliver it's promises of equal opportunities, wealth distribution, respect for human rights and the good life to all the citizens. Our project offers an opportunity to citizens from Faro, The Hague, Vienna and Budapest, to face the consequences of the current systems we are so entangled with and to decolonize our minds to open creative spaces where new solutions can emerge, be know and experimented on the local level and then shared on an European scale. There is a huge potential for collective learning and wide dissemination of alternatives to the current failed responses
Citizens improve their understanding of current contexts, challenges and opportunities at the local level and in Europe, through collective processes, familiarizing with emerging practices & concepts for systemic change around the world (transition towns, localization, commons, gift economies, collaborative economies, permaculture, urban farming, repair cafés, local currencies, etc.). They share visions, aspirations and intentions and co-construct new narratives for their localities, initiating action experiments to explore new narratives in action. Citizens enlarge the sense of belonging and engagement and share project's impact at personal and community levels, as well as new narratives, through different innovative media (video, story-telling, social media...) as widely as possible.
1st phase (Nov-Dec 2015): Dissemination to consolidate local stakeholders interest to be involved in the project.
2nd Phase (Jan-Feb 2016): Partners' prep meeting. Key staff training on collaborative methods to be used in phases 3 and 4 (Transition, Theory U, Art of Hosting, Social Presencing Theatre, the Council, Appreciative inquiry).

We are looking for methodologies and local initiatives that contribute to greater local resilience around Europe, though strengthening community cohesion in order to face the current challenges and the future of post carbon and climate change challenges.
