Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

At Yes Europe Lab, we dare to go where no one else dares to go. We want to deliver a mass “deep-canvassing” campaign in the heart of Eurosceptic and anti-EU electorates. Our short-term goal is to understand their hopes, anger and fears, and help them connect with their European identity. Our mid-term goal is to launch innovative media products to amplify the impact of the campaign. Our long-term goal is to expand the base of pro-European citizens across Europe

Where will your idea take place?

Across multiple European countries, based on data analysis. We already have teams in 11 countries

Why does Europe need your idea?

We want to expand the base of pro-European citizens across Europe by engaging in meaningful face-to-face interactions to help citizens connect with their European identity. We start with the hardest campaign, targeting deep Eurosceptic areas, as we want this campaign to be a symbol to inspire others

What is your impact?

A canvassing campaign has a conversion rate of 1/14 voters. Direct impact will be lower as we target areas w/ lowest propensity to be persuaded. But we hope to inspire similar efforts issuing viral media content (e.g. and analyzing roots of Euroscepticism

How do you get there?

1. Team that combines 4 fields of expertise: academics and data scientists; trainers and campaigners; video-makers and social media experts; story-tellers to build the campaign’s narrative
2. Rigorous data analysis to identify key constituencies
3. Expand our base of volunteers across Europe
4. Train volunteers on the latest deep canvassing techniques
5. Econometric methods to quantify the impact of our campaign
6. Post-campaign: mentor volunteers to be lead organizers of future campaigns

What is your story?

We are a group of Europeans committed to deliver the next stage of European unification. We are pan-European at birth, beyond national borders. We created the Lab as a home for all pro-European “agents of change” to gather, build communities, experiment, and develop agency over the future of Europe

Who are you doing it for?

We are developing a community of Europeans committed to defending and promoting the Union across the continent. Engaging Eurosceptics is crucial to bring together and grow this community as they muster the courage to pierce out of the pro-EU bubble with a sincere will to engage, understand, convince

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

We look forward to receiving support to: a) develop a more granular theory of change that will enable us to quantify the impact of our campaign; b) cross-pollinate ideas and methodologies from different fields of expertise; c) meet likeminded people who would like to join our campaign
