Center for Peace and Tolerance
Balkan Center for Cultural Diplomacy in Pristina would contribute to establishment of the common political democratic culture through cultural diversity. There is no other example in Europe such as Balkans regarding diversity of cultural heritage and various civilization impacts, and yet so many similarities that are connecting us, which needs to be promoted. It would be achieved through mutual cooperation and understanding of different cultures in order to achieve more coherent society.
Location of the Center would be in Prishtinë/Priština, Kosovo* because of easy accessibility.
It will bring to the consolidation of democratic culture in Balkans which would later bring to easier assimilation of peoples of Balkans in European cultures and values. Together we can improve and strengthen shaken democratic idea of united Europe.
Center would be a focal point of the Balkan unity and EU connecting bridge, while bringing to closer cooperation of Balkan countries with other cultures. Since it cannot be considered that Europe is united without Balkans as integral part, the Center would contribute to integrating Balkan itself.
We would be seeking to present more similarities that we have, than the differences in our cultures and heritage. By doing so, we would be using even our differences as tools and not obstacles that would bring us closer together to our common goal of becoming integral part of EU community.
Since in past couple of decades, our region was shaken with political instabilities and wars that were partially caused by differences in culture and religion, we would finally want to prove that we can all live together not despite, but because of our differences by embracing them.
We are doing it for young generations that haven't been a part of past conflicts, but were tainted with the hatred and intolerance of our ancestors. Since we are also part of this generation, we are well aware of what unity can bring based on positive example or EU youth.
