Improving Dual Career support for Athletes : transnational cooperation, best practice, good governance and innovative ideas to make it possible
The importance of dual career for athletes and the need for innovative approaches the have been recognized by the EU. We bring our unique expertise and network on this issue, reinforced by many succesful projects that we have set up in this field in the past. Professional players are a complex group to reach but player associations have created communication strategy to interact with them effectively. Taking into account the transnationality of Dual career of athletes in Europe, there is a constant need for a greater cooperation between EUA members to create a better reality for the future athletes. The main benefits of the project will persist as the links between player associations, improvements of their governance and the increased focus on dual career support will be long lasting.
We recognise dual career support as one our key priority, based on analysis of our members’ main issues. Athletes are a big and important social group with specific needs, which should be taken into consideration. Our motivation is to make sure that the biggest number of athletes can achieve a successuful transition after sport, allowing them to use their potential and assure their social inclusion and particiaption for the future. Other goals include the promotion of greater understanding and solidarity between different player associations across Europe. We would like to strengthen the network of European player associations within EU Athletes in order to promote deeper integration between the people of Europe, on every-day and personnal level.
