Eurasia Partnership Foundation
The Dreamers’ Lab is a community, space, and content inspiring young people to notice and solve social challenges be it air pollution, minority rights, or urban poverty. We target young (18-30) Azerbaijanis with skill building programs, networking with local and EU counterparts, and support for small youth-led projects. We also target EU civic youth initiatives willing to exchange their experience in furthering democracy and to implement small projects jointly with their peers from Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan: 8 neighborhoods surrounding capital city Baku; select EU countries
Az is a member of EU supported Eastern Partnership that promotes European democratic values, i.e. civic participation, in nearby states. Dreamer's Lab connects young active citizens from Az and EU and encourages deeper understanding of democracy development processes in different contexts
-Connections built between Az and EU active youth
-10 social projects implemented in Az and the EU reaching 5,000 people
-50 young Azerbaijanis understand civic participation concept and have skills for developing social projects
-Replicable program for “activating” young citizens is developed
• Skype chats with at least 5 EU civic youth initiatives
• 10 small projects implemented by joint Az-EU teams of young activists in respective countries
• Online and offline public outreach campaigns in Az and EU about the small projects
• Online platform for the Az and EU participants to stay in touch after the project
• Workshops on skills for planning and implementing a social project by established youth initiatives, NGOs and business community in Baku for 50 participants
The Dreamers’ Lab reaches beyond the young people who are already active citizens. It aspires to capture and “activate” the youth who have the drive for social change but are yet to develop their ideas into action plans. It brings hope to the young Az civil society that is currently under siege.
-50 young Baku residents selected based on essays with ideas for solving a public challenge
-5 teams of EU civic youth groups learning about a country where democracy is still not a given
-5,000 residents of Baku and EU reached through the small projects and the public awareness campaigns.
We are interested to hear from teams that implemented or took part in similar projects. Any ideas on maximizing the effect of such projects or for ensuring the sustainability of the network resulting from the project would be greatly appreciated.
