GJUUM ist also based in Berlin, Germany. We are in contact with several organisations of Education for Sustainable Development, climate art (CLIMART) and dance/theatre institutions across Europe.
We propose a participatory dance performance at specific places in Europe in order to tell stories about the challenge of planetary boundaries in a diverse culture of acceleration. We create participatory dance-mobs that „every-body“ can take part in either „live“ or via the internet adding their own mob. With a vast network of artists and scientists across the globe that have different forms of connection to Europe we want to make this a European project for the world.
Coordination: Berlin, Germany
Performances: United Kingdom, Latvia, Romania, France, Spain, Serbia
We want Europe to fulfil a kind of mentorship for future narratives of planetary boundaries. Our project gives Europe an artistic narration of current controversies in achieving a great transformation. It shows the necessity and the effort for an European participatory cultural citizenship.
Our project can be the blueprint for performing stories about the controversy of democratic participation in a culture of planetary boundaries and acceleration. Thus, people of all ways of life of all ages are able to participate and to communicate.
The performance will be developed in a collaboration of professionals in the field of climate and sustainability communication and dance education. There will be a core team of professionals and they will be trained to create participatory narrative and performative dance-mobs. It's an artistic cognitive process, not an illustration of sustainability. Opening up our network and their networks our aim is to achieve a viral effect that will show a diverse yet united Europe to the world.
My job and passion is the development of ideas in the field of climate communication by the use of different forms of media and storytelling (e.g. transmedia storytelling). I worked at the University for a long time until I recognized that I need to apply my knowledge in a practical way.
The performance will give future multipliers and change makers over the world skills and creative competencies to use their bodies. By including our network of influencers that come from diverse fields between arts, sciences and politics we want to speak to all people interested in true language.
Our team is open for ideas of how to use different means of media, performance and storytelling for sustainability communication. We welcome further cooperations to support our idea.
