The project is to create the momentum for community engagement in defining and implementing strategic actions for local development through art, heritage and creativity. An abandoned Municipal Tractor Station is a place for which local community and government are mobilized to find alternative development solutions. Exchange with German partners is to assist for innovative solutions through participatory decision-making, building awareness and capacity for sustainable action.

Demonstrating the power of democratic action in realizing right to decent living environment, this practical example from small historic town shall inspire declining communities in Europe to take the stage and shape their future through joint action and stronger links across regions and countries.
Local government awareness and capacity for supporting local development though creative industries will be improved, community engagement in decision-making and management increased, innovative community cultural space will be created.
Exchange of experience with German counterparts in creating cultural districts, community focus group set up to support development of local cultural centre and creative industry, international workshop for drawing up a institutional model for innovative and democratic management of local cultural centre in former Municipal Tractor Station.
The idea was born through the CoE/EU project "Community led urban strategies for historic towns" where Urban Reactor team contributed with expertise. Our mission is to further assist local government and community in realizing the idea with international exchange and capacity building actions.
The project is for local citizens and government of Dusheti. Through creating success story, the project also benefits other small towns in Georgia and in the region and also impacts creative sector in Georgia at large creating alternative platform for employing culture for local development.
Any advice on challenging top down decision making through local activism and creative action would be welcome.
