Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa
The Education Service is a laboratory for people of all ages and skills, focusing on creativity, debate and experimentation. As a democratic endeavour, education assumes an idea of the future in its incorporation, provision, of specific practices of social life.
The Education Service of Constellations aims to foster European collaborations in an innovative Educational methodology based in a series of activities directed to a wide public. Working together with a Portuguese partner, foreign institutions will work within Constellations’ contents and participate in work sessions, in various formats ranging from workshops, talks, visits or experiences. Specialised national or international mentors will coordinate the sessions in a network from different contexts to exchange knowledge fostering long-term co-operations open to new partnerships. We want to give access to equal means of knowledge production seeking social, cultural, generation and gender equality, dissolving stigma and prejudice, in an inclusive approach, based on citizenship awareness.
Our aim is to establish bridges between different cultures through an engaging methodology. With such programme we aim to promote knowledge and to develop the essential competencies of the contemporary society: team work, critical thought, respect for difference, sense of responsibility and openness to experience in a shared approach. Hence, the methodology is comparable to a “social sculpture”, a term coined by Joseph Beuys in the 1970s, which defended art's potential to transform society in a participatory and inclusive way. Our highest ambition is to contribute to a united Europe where different people collaborate and share experiences despite gender, cultural and generational differences.
The Education Service of Constellations takes place between 6th October and 11th December of 2016.
