Climate Change and Migration are two spotlighted topics in the global dynamics, but the relation between those two topics is far away from the public debate and from the political agenda.
Our project aims to raise awareness among the European community, structuring a participate network model in which Migrants’ communities themselves are in the first line, in synergy with local key actors able to contribute with trasversal skills.
Athens, Greece (the operative center), Spain, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Portugal.
In order to strengthen democracy we need citizens to be informed and active. Our project can deliver a better understanding of current migrations' flow in EU and enhance debate and interaction between local key actors with different background (Education - no profit sector - agricolture).
-create and empower a small network of organizations in Mediterranean area, able to connect global dynamics with local impact;
-bring together local key actors involved in migration/climate change from different perspectives, providing the basis for local working groups in each partner country;
The project will take place from 01/09/18 until 31/12/18 and will be structured in 3 phases:
1st/Sept.: project presentation to the partners, brainstorming - shaping of the campaign (methodology - tools);
2nd/Oct.-Dec.: on-going Campaign, reach out of key actors involved at local level;
3rd/Action week (13th-20th Dec.): end of the Campaign and 6 simultaneous local events (ex: presentation - demonstrative action - social cafe), dedicated to the International Migrants Day.
The GFM aims to innovate the approach and the position of the topic of migration in the Greek and European society, creating a mixed work space that is able to innovate the public debate with a new understanding of global dynamics.
With our project we aim to target group of individuals, academics, small organizations and local realities that are concerned and have interest to collaborate and to contribute to the creation ad a local and an European network, focused in raising awareness climate change's multiple impacts .
