Idea Sketch | Proposal

Idea pitch

Through cooking classes and community projects we brought together hundreds of people from different cultures and created just as many encounters among locals and refugees throughout Germany - together with you, we can continue to create many sustainable ways of shaping the society we live in!

Where will your idea take place?

Berlin, Germany

Why does Europe need your idea?

Integrating refugees into society is one of the biggest challenges Europe is facing at the moment and will be facing in the years to come. While politicians are still struggling to come up with sustainable ideas to shape this process, "Über den Tellerrand kochen" already invites each and every member of society (locals as well as refugees) to contribute in getting people connected and making integration a process that everyone can enjoy taking part in. Instead of dividing society into "givers" and "receivers", we put everyone on equal footing and create an environment of mutual respect and learning.

What is your impact?

The Champions-Project aims to get more and more people involved in organising enjoyable encounters between refugees and locals. Individuals from both groups will join us to broaden the spectrum of our activities from "cooking out of the box" to gardening, playing soccer, giving language classes, playing music and many more! We will attract volunteers, provide workshops where they can organise the different activities, and spread the concept to various cities all over Germany and the German-speaking parts of Europe.
Our aim is to create 500 encounters between refugees and locals per month in every participating city.

How do you get there?

Starting from May 2015:
- 6 on-boarding workshops per year in Berlin to attract motivated individuals, get them connected, organised and provided with the infrastructure to start their activities
- 12 workshops per year in Berlin to keep in touch with the "Champions", solve possible problems, collect new ideas, enhance their skills
Starting from August 2015:
- 24 kick-off workshops per year in various cities to introduce the community there to the concept and provide them with necessary background information and infrastructure to start their own Champions-projects
- 24 follow-up workshops per year in various cities to keep track of the results, achievements and challenges in their programs and provide support wherever necessary
