Teatro dell’Argine Società Cooperativa Sociale
«Italy=pizza+mafia»: a journey through 28 EU member States, to identify what images and stereotypes on EU citizens lie in the mind of children and teens, and see how they can become constructive visions for EU future in the hands of theatre artists, sociologists, architects, educators, politicians.
In the newborn EU, where pre-EU and new generations live together, we’d need to delete borders not only in a political or administrative way, but above all for what concerns culture, values, experiences, best practices. Dismantling stereotypes and stiffnesses that are often part of each change, we’d try a new narrative to have active and aware EU citizens, able to increase the value of each EU member, contribute to EU cultural, social and political development, along an open-minded, inclusive path, where «United in diversity» is more than just one motto: as declared in last recent European forums on culture and education.
Building an open and courageous Europe, able to go beyond stereotypes and fears including different people and cultures, means building awareness in kids and adults, give the young tools to help them orienting their future choices and future EU development towards a shared democratic idea of Europe. That’s BET main aim in working with kids and teachers and fostering transectorial cooperation as a tool towards empowerment of such a crucial field as education of future EU citizens.
Arts can give a strong contribution when they’re really in touch with people’s everyday lives; and an alliance among arts, culture and education is strongly needed: let artists give a hand in making education an amazing journey; let education come out of the desks towards active participation and creativity.
