Young people all over Europe feel numb towards politics. Far-right parties are getting stronger all around Europe. And they hurt a lot of people. We do workshops for young politically-frustrated people to create campaigns against discrimination. By coaching together with local multipliers, we aim to create lasting local projects and by gathering all the created content on a tumblr we intend to reach young people all over Europe that can interact with our workshop results and build on it.
We will start with the local initiatives throughout the Balkans and Germany
Right-wing populism hurts a lot of people in Europe. Too often we stay silent because we don’t have a proper response. We want to support critical and constructive responses to any kind of hate speech by developing the proper tools for speaking up with kindness and to empower people to really do it.
10 workshops took place,successive
120 multipliers have been educated,
a concept paper for future workshops has been developed, for different group size (work in pairs, small groups (up to 15 p.), medium groups (16-45), large groups (45+)
We’ll create kick-off workshop with our partners and anybody who is interested in co-creating the workshop design. We do this by using a Design Thinking approach. The workshops will than be conducted both in the Balkan, Germany and other places. We will not argue against hate speech, but offer positive responses to cope with it. We will not use facebook or twitter to do so but tumblr, because more strangers are interacting with each other, so breaking the filter-bubble is easier.
We are frustrated that our peers are not politically active and we are tired of arguing why we should be active. We believe that a liberal democracy is very important for societal well-being and we see it threatened. We believe in empathy and kind responses to threats.
Main target group: Young people between 12-35 years old that are fed-up with politics. We prefer young people in rural areas, who we will aim to reach through workshops. We mainly intend to reach tumblr-users in this age-group.
Side target group: Young graphic and interaction designers.
We really would like to know if other NGOs focused on tumblr as a campaign plattform, if you know NGOs that have a similiar approach than we do and how corporation with them is possible!
