Artlabo is an interdisciplinary lab exploring new ways of thinking the actual environmental challenges and aiming at stimulating a civic debate on a post-Anthropocene Europe.
Nantes - FR, Gijon - ESP, Ljubjiana - SVN
The challenges European society (and beyond) faces need fresh air. The approach proposed by Artlabo can bring it. Besides, these challenges might be tricky to understand and overcome for citizens. The mix of the artistic, scientific, digital point of views may ease their reappropriation. At least they will create a necessary debate on today and tomorrow's challenges. On a political perspective, the works develop in Artlabo project may be illuminating and help defining the forthcoming policies.
We expect Artlabo to be a catalyst of a post-anthropocene Europe by....
.... changing the perpectives on the current societal challenges thanks to the cross-disciplinary approach fostered by the project,
.... stimulating a civic debate
.... and improving the understanding of this complex issue by European citizens
Besides, the project will give the opportunity to...
.... create communities of interests coming from different backgrounds,
.... and favor the reappropriation of artistic and scientific approaches,
The project will be organized around 2 phases:
- phase 1 / cross-displinary research : from Nov.15 to May .16, 3 duo of artist and scientist will work together in different European labs representing the movements involved (PiNG / digital culture + social innovation, Laboral / art, Kapelica / art + science).
- phase 2 / mediation through demonstration: partners will participate in an event dedicated to Anthropocene at le Grand T in Nantes in June 2016 to value the work developed during phase 1 and to create a civic debate on the Anthropocene issue and the new social model we could build in the post-Anthropocene Europe. To do so, they will set up a workshop program mixing experiments, hands-on activities, exhibition and discussions directed to a general audience.
