Microsoft Innovation Center Armenia
Our team has developed a project which will solve one of the most disturbing issues in today's Europe. We have an idea to integrate Syrian refuges to the Armenian society by training them to be competitive and professional specialists for Armenia. Armenia has hosted about 15000 refuges since the start of the Syrian conflict. Our aim is to integrate the refugees to the society and get rid of the "asylum seeker" status.
Since the start of the Syrian conflict about 15000 Syrians have found refuge in Armenia. However, currently Armenia is in a difficult economic situation itself. With unemployment rate growing in Armenia, many native Armenians themselves tend to immigrate to Europe. With this difficult economical situation Syrian refuges don’t settle in Armenia either. There is a need to integrate the refuges into the Armenian society. And our team has stepped out with an idea to help the refugees to integrate.
One of the most fast growing and promising economical sectors in Armenia is Information Technologies. Per Enterprise Incubator Foundation 2015 report the Armenian Universities don't supply enough specialists that would meet the demands of the market. The recent graduates have to take many IT courses outside of the University to become competitive specialists. Our team has developed a plan to train the Syrian refugees who have a background in IT sector make them competitive.
Our team has developed rage of courses in the IT field that currently are the most demanded in the Armenian market. Our project will be specializing in frontend IT courses, mainly the following courses are planned to be carried out: Programming in Python, Programming in Java, HTML course, CSS course and AngularJS course. The courses will be carried out by the leading specialists in the Armenian IT field and with collaboration of Microsoft Innovation center.
We will be working with 18-40 years old Syrian refugees in Armenia. Our demand will be that they have a background in the IT field. By "background" we mean, that they were/are enrolled in Universities of Information technologies, have taken basic courses in IT, have experience in IT companies.
