Right now local attitudes and perceptions of residents in Eastern and Western Ukraine towards each other are formed based on media and propaganda, rather than actual experiences, such as personal contacts or tourism. This indicates that there is a need to physically cross existing borders and establish dialogue within Ukraine to strengthen cultural relations, demystify artificially constructed cultural identities, and build a stronger national identity.
Specifically, GaliciaKult will physically transcend borders between West and East, and bring the multifaceted culture of “Halychyna” region to Kharkiv, the largest city of the Slobozhanshchyna historical region (northeast).Art projects created within the forum by artists from West and East Ukraine will work after it and regional cultural collaboration will develop and expand. Grasp the concept of a neighborship, both inside the country and over borders.
