If you look around in cities, you can see how we are missing technologies to connect neighbours and places:People speak through places - this is why we use this metaphor to make it easier for everybody going online for the first time in their lives to use share economy: Internet inspired by cities.
The biggest challenge of Europe is the beautiful diversity that become a problem in finding common meaning and sense of language. By using the universal concept of places, we try to make it easier to speak without boundaries. Places are universally understood, that is how we can help people who now can seamless start interacting with their local environments using mobile devices. By implementing technologies that are implemented in ways that can be long-term independently existing, this idea creates a places for European places.
The idea of this project is to fix communication in public spaces by creating new tools: We build new technologies that make it easier to communicate in public spaces like Playgrounds, Supermarkets, Apartment Buildings and Schools. This way help connecting 3.5bn people that are gaining access for the first time in their lives to online technologies. The Digital Divide is one of the biggest challenges - and national differences even make it more complicated. We believe this can be fixed through technology and design. As a result more people will use online technologies and more people will share resources.
- This idea will be initially built out as prototype: Both virtual and as installation. Displaying the technology in public spaces around Europe, will help to collect feedback and release new designs for the physical and online implementation of the technology.
- The development will be based on application testing and user insights in non-for-profit environments: we can do this by providing our solution to a huge number of international civil society and public sector actors that are currently rolling out urban innovation strategies like technology-first financial innovations or location-first concepts like co-working or communal groups.
- The value of this idea is to become as fast as possible abundant by adoption: for this it has to be designed in ways that are open source.
