We want to provide tech-savvy people with an alternative way to proactively inform themselves and promote critical thinking. We want to make it easy to find answers to the key question: "Why do some people think differently than I do on a given topic?" In fact, increased passive reliance on social media generates an illusion of information and initial beliefs are often reinforced without being truly questioned - hence leading to polarization of opinions.

Agreelist aims to fight recent surge of populist movements relying on one-sided fake news. It offers a platform where citizens can shape their own opinions after having reviewed what others think on both sides of an issue, and makes influencers accountable to their opinions over time.
Agreelist will be a go-to platform for people who wish to actively inform themselves. People will browse new topics, follow the topics they are interested in and the influencers they admire. They will also contribute to the platform, hence making its content mainly user-generated.
Step 1: test a freelancer model to help adding content when Agreelist receives sponsorships
Step 2: market the platform among interest groups keen to sponsor topics and potential supporters
Step 3: improve referencing, usability and design to make it easier for users to browse, engage with and add content
Step 4: publicize content creation process and increase user-generated content
Step 5: become a fully self-sustainable platform thanks to contributing users and sponsorships
Co-founders Hector and Emilie have both lived in different European countries, and experienced first-hand how local beliefs are often the result of poor information. By moving to different countries they realized that entire families of arguments are often missing in domestic media.
We target millenials who want to inform themselves proactively and not only passively via their social media feeds. Engaged niche communities (Reddit, Wikipedia..) are our first focus as we have evidence that they are the most likely ones to engage with our platform, especially by adding content.
We would love to receive feedback on our online platform (https://agreelist.org) and advices on what topics to focus on next. Also, we would appreciate help from the community in adding new topics / opinions and in sharing Agreelist content to their networks.
