SAME (Solidarity Action Day Movement in Europe)
We want to spread our innovative Action Day concept all over Europe. We empower and inspire fellow youngsters to show solidarity and stand up for a fair and democratic world.
SAME is a young network consisting of seven youth-run organizations in Europe. We are an international initiative and therefore our activities will take place all over Europe. We will use the facilities and offices of the SAME member organisations in Oslo, Copenhagen, Bolzano, Bassano del Grappa, Belgrade, Berlin and Brussels. Furthermore, our activities will take place in the countries of the new Action Day initiatives that will be supported. In particular, we have already identified interested parties from the student unions in Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The European idea is in a deep crisis: Populist and europhobe parties are getting stronger while youth unemployment is still high, leaving youngsters disillusioned. We want to stand up for a common Europe and global solidarity by spreading the idea of the Action Day. We, youngsters, are the future of society. This unique project empowers youngsters to become active citizens.
Our concept of peer-education develops forward-effective and long-term partnerships between youngsters from different backgrounds. This facilitates intensive learning experiences and personal exchange beneficial to the European idea.
By joining the already existing Action Day movement - already bringing together more than 250.000 young Europeans - even more youngsters will be introduced to the European spirit.
The Action Day program will encourage young people to stand up for a fair and democratic world. They show solidarity by raising funds for youth empowerment projects. We will enable at least four youth organisations or informal groups of youngsters to implement a new Action Day in their country. A process of mutual learning will take place: SAME, whose member organizations accumulate an astounding 50 years of experience, shares its best practices and its experiences with the new Action Day initiatives, while gaining experience in supporting new Action Day initiatives. This experience will be of use for similar projects in the future. We as a network will establish long-term partnerships with the supported Action Day Initiatives.
We will start implementing the project immediately and it will be finished in November 2016. Our New Action Day Initiative program focuses on encouraging and supporting new Action Day Initiatives with a holistic approach by:
*providing an online wiki (innovative and community based resource tool) summing up the concept of the Action Day and showing the most important and successful methods for organizing and carrying out an Action Day;
*drafting and carrying out an innovative series of workshops on the basics of organising and carrying out an Action Day, which is tailored to the needs of the up-and-coming initiatives
*offering personal mentoring by SAME member organizations and on-site best practice exchange e.g. in the form of internships or mutual visits.
