Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Our project constists of 4 different sub-projects: drama groups for adults coming from different backgrounds, workshops about current social questions, TIE (theatre in education) performances, and improvisational theatre performances tackling taboos.
We use the methods of applied theatre and we connect a lot of different people. Drama gives a chance to experience the democratic way of thinking and working together as a community without even noticing it.

Where will your idea take place?

Mainly in Budapest, Hungary.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Our dream is to take part in creating a society based on active, open-minded and critical citizens. Developing communication is urgent and important. Communication between people coming from different background is difficult, but applied theatre gives us an opportunity to understand each other.

What is your impact?

During our events people become more active, reflective and creative and we encourage them to hold on to these features in order to take responsiblity for the matters of society. Our participants learn new ways of communication, they become more open and recepient towards each other and the world.

How do you get there?

We have four different kinds of events in which people can either take part as participants or as an audience.
As participants they can join our process based drama groups and our workshops.
In our workshops we thrive to deal with current social problems, e.g. global education, religion-based discrimination and extremism, status differences, migration, gender and LGBTQ issues, corruption.
We also offer theatre performances in which people can take part as active members of the audience.

What is your story?

Forum Company was founded in 2013. The aim of the company is to use theatre and drama to achieve social changes and to create forums by generating and fostering communication amongst young people, children and adult on issues they hardly or rarely discuss together.

Who are you doing it for?

Our events are open, everybody can join without any previous experience in drama. Diversity is general, our participants are between 16-60. Joiners, university teachers, lawyers, unemployed, hairdressers etc. work together.

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

Mainly we need financial support to make our projects work efficiently. Besides that we would highly appreciate advice on fundraising, since our staff consists of volunteers at the moment. We also would like to get some support in marketing, e.g. how to reach out to more people.
