Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

Having observed the impact of online media outlets on the shaping of public opinion, we aim to create a European space of discussion where opinions on current social and political issues can be discussed in the form of a podcast. The format of the discussions involves (rotative?) co-hosts approaching the various topics together with knowledgeable and exciting guests. The purpose is to open up a space of mindful yet uninhibited conversation in the public arena, with a European focus.

Where will your idea take place?

The podcast will be recorded in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Political debate has become par to crusading and appears to no longer consider the common good as the end-goal, some of the most prominent examples being: Brexit, Catalan independence or the American presidential election. Our idea would bring consensus building back at the center of politics.

What is your impact?

A decrease in the popularity of extremist rhetoric would be a success. Less disgust and more understanding towards opposing views on current and especially heated topics is the end-goal.

How do you get there?

Round table discussions recorded as a combined podcast/television program, and broadcasted freely on the web. Online media is by and large the biggest driver of polarization and that is where we come with an alternative. Our multi-cultural origins gave us intellectually diverse perspectives, which can positively enrich the deliberations, and we will step forward as today's regular Europeans who want to see a united, ethical and prosperous Europe.

What is your story?

We know that Europe stands only one chance, we owe it to ourselves and to the world as well. There is no other more important project in the world at this moment than sorting ourselves out as Europeans.

Who are you doing it for?

Europeans with an interest in social issues and politics
