Idea Sketch

Idea pitch

With our project we want to give European students a new platform where issues which are of importance to them can be dealt with from a European instead of national perspective. We think that news from purely national angles are not suitable for our generation anymore, and want to take a first step towards the creation of a student-driven European media platform.

Where will your idea take place?

We are based in Cologne, Germany.

Why does Europe need your idea?

Campus Europe will strengthen democracy in Europe by creating a wide network of media makers who will cooperate on common projects, driven by the shared goal to deliver news from the angle of young Europeans. In this way it helps young Europeans to understand political affairs in Europe.

What is your impact?

A success would be to have a constant output of high-quality media, with growing numbers of members and audience alike. Our network will become registered, and our output become even more regular. With the overarching goal of becoming a household name for European media coverage.

How do you get there?

We would register as non-profit organisation under German law, using the office space of Startplatz for two people. They will coordinate productions of and with our partner TVs, creating scripts, overseeing the production and organize the articles section by supporting the work of the editors. He/she will establish new guidelines on cooperation and institutionalize our current partnerships and reach out to the TV studios, as well as secure proper financial planning and administer the homepage.

What is your story?

Campus Europe is important to us because it not only targets and engages, but is also produced and managed solely by European students. This guarantees that communication between makers and audience is honest and direct, with no additional layer of older professional in between.

Who are you doing it for?

CampusEurope aims to inform and attract students. Our focus lies on European students, although “European” is not bound to the borders of the EU member states. Once CampusEurope has established itself as a dynamic platform for youth news, it can also become interesting for older generations.

What do you need from the Advocate Europe community?

How to professionalize our structures (office administration, professionalize the partners network) and to establish a stable financing. Also we are always open for new ideas or new formats.
